BMW is already working on a Neue Klasse nose job for the M5

► M5 facelift already in the works
► Here’s what we know
► It’s going to match the new Neue Klasse look

It’s all change at BMW. The new M5 was revealed just a few months ago, but it seems Munich’s engineers and designers are already working on a facelift. From the pictures here, we can see the tweaked M5 will benefit from similar treatment to the new iX SUV. In simple terms, it’s getting a Neue Klasse nosejob.

Study the pictures on this page and you’ll see most of the camo – and therefore change– is around the front of the car, primarily around an all-new grille and light solution. These spy shots, taken by our photographers well ahead of an official reveal, show an M5 with a similar face to the Neue Klasse iX3 and i3 Vision concept designs already shown – as well as that of the recently revealed M3 prototype.

The changes appear at the rear too, with the new rear lights most likely similar to the M3 prototype mentioned above. As we said before, it’s a whole new look for Munich.

Inside, expect the BMW M5 to get the Panoramic iDrive system, previously debuted at CES.

Why now?

Munich usually waits longer than this before a model refresh, but it seems to be getting all its ducks in a row. Rather than sticking to the same product cycle as before, it looks as though BMW wants to change the look of its entire model line-up in a shorter period of time.
