Porsche 911 GT2 RS (2011) spy video

Published: 10 May 2010 Updated: 26 January 2015

We’ll see the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS officially very soon – but here’s some hastily grabbed spy video footage grabbed as the caged hardcore 911 tested near the Nurburgring in Germany. For our full GT2 RS scoop, click here.

Porsche GT2 RS? Surely a typo!

Not at all. This is the hardest 911 GT2 yet, a widowmaker and marriagebreaker all rolled into one by the sounds of the spec. It undergoes the full 911 diet regime, including fabric door handles, titanium exhaust and ceramic brake discs – said to trim nearly 100kg from the kerbweight. Less is more, judging by the price expected to top £150,000, although passengers, children and your bank manager may strongly disagree.

The 2010 GT2 RS will be rear-drive and you can hear its uprated 592bhp 3.8-litre flat six being gently extended in our scoop video clips here. While we understand the multi-storey rear spoiler and more air intakes than a hotel air-conditioner, we’re not quite clear what’s wrong with the flashing rear LED brake lights. Perhaps indicating they’ve cooked the brakes during a hot lap or two – it’s already been timed at under 7min 30sec around the Ring…
