► New EV for Subaru
► Based on Toyota platform
► Will be a ‘mid-size SUV’

Subaru is pushing its electrification efforts in Europe with a new, all-electric model confirmed for 2021.

While details are scarce, the brand says the new model will be a mid-size SUV, similar in dimensions to the Forester.

It’s also confirmed to use the same platform as the recently-announced new electric SUV from Toyota; the platform was a joint effort between the new brands. Toyota calls it e-TNGA, a modular set of components that can be used on a variety of different vehicle bodystyles.

The name Evoltis is potentially in the running for the new electric SUV, which makes sense given that ‘volt’ is literally right there. However, the name is already used by Subaru for the South American market version of the Ascent SUV.

Subaru is pushing its commitment to reducing its emissions footprint in Europe, with models like the XV and Forester having an e-Boxer hybrid version. It also announced the new BRZ will not be coming to the region.
