Range Rover Evoque 5dr (2011) scooped by reader

CAR reader Paul Overbury had a Christmas surprise when he spotted a camo’ed up baby Range Rover on London’s orbital motorway, the M25.

Although the Evoque has been unveiled fully now – in both three-door and five-door bodystyles – this test hack still wears the swirly-whirly disguise of its earlier brethren.

Paul Overbury turns spy photographer

‘I was traveling on the M25 by junction 6/5 when I took these pics which I think may be the new Land Rover,’ said Paul.

Although Land Rover showed off the rakish three-door Evoque first (they call it a coupe), they will in fact sell more of this more practical five-door bodystyle.

After a long gestation, we will finally get to drive the Range Rover Evoque in 2011, before sales commence in the summer.

So what’s the Evoque doing on the M25?

Hadn’t you heard that the wilds of Africa and the high-speed torment of the Nurburgrging are nothing compared with London’s ring road? The hell that is the M25 is clearly a far harsher environment for a new car nowadays – and a reminder that the Evoque is destined for a more urban clientele.
