Mini’s chunky, more people-and-stuff-friendly Countryman model has been given a mild facelift for 2020.
Visual tweaks include newly designed front and rear bumpers, grille arrangement and fresh wheel designs. LED headlights are now standard. A new ‘piano black exterior’ option pack slathers on mascara around the headlights, as well as colouring the bumper trimmings.
Inside, the Countryman now features the digital dashboard first seen in the Mini Electric and GP hatches and a cleaner infotainment system arrangement. Given it’s Mini’s specialty, the Countryman benefits from an expanded personalisation range, including leather options and plenty of trims for the cockpit.
Four engines are available – two petrols, one PHEV and a diesel. The Cooper uses a 134bhp 3cyl petrol, the Cooper D uses a 148bhp four-cylinder diesel, the Cooper S has a 176bhp turbo petrol.
Mini says all of the engines are Euro 6d compliant, and all of these can be optioned with all-wheel drive. As for the plug-in hybrid, it has 217bhp total system output, is all-wheel drive only and is capable of up to 38 miles of electric range.
