► Audi’s next A1 spied
► Platform shared with Polo
► Due for launch in 2018
The current-gen Audi A1 has been hard at work in showrooms since 2010, and it’s now getting ready to pass over the baton to its replacement, spied testing in these new pictures.
The Mk2 A1 will share the same MQB-A0 platform as the latest VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Seat Arona. That means a longer wheelbase than the outgoing A1 for more interior space. A larger boot is also expected to feature.

As per the Polo, a configurable digital instrument cluster will feature – potentially with a larger 12.3-inch option, as seen on larger Audi models. Expect a mid-dash touchscreen horizontally aligned with the dials, like the Polo.
Whereas the existing A1 is available with three or five doors, industry rumour suggests its successor will be available in five-door form only, to save production costs, as is the case with the new Polo.
Three- and four-cylinder engine options will feature, and manual and DSG auto gearboxes.
Here’s hoping there’ll be a new S1 version, too…
