► Nürburgring EV War Reignites
► Turbo GT makes 1093bhp in standard trim
► Will need to beat 6:22.091 record
Automotive brands can’t seem to drag themselves away from the Nürburgring, and the bragging rights for records at the ‘Ring seem to be gold dust right now. With that in mind, Porsche almost certainly didn’t Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra circulating the track in just 6:22.091 minutes earlier this year.
It seems that Stuttgart is fighting back to secure the EV record again – and now it has the help of Manthey. Our spy pictures show probably the most tooled-up Taycan you’ll ever see testing at the ring, as Porsche looks to take back the record from China.
What you see here, then, is a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the GT3 RS Manthey kit. Obvious points of interest include the covered rear wheels (for reduced drag) as well as the GT3-spec wing at the rear. Of course, that adds performance over the standard car, which already produces 1093bhp and can do 0-124mph in 6.4sec.
Porsche already charges £186,000 for the base car, so you’ll be looking well over £200,000 for the configuration you see here.
Porsche hasn’t communicated anything just yet about the record, but if comments from our spy photographers are anything to go by, it’s looking extremely quick. Whether it’s faster than 6:22.091 minutes remains to be seen.
