Hyundai Genesis Coupe (2008) CAR review and video

Is it practical?

Pretty much. The boot is deceptively large, but it’s a shame that the space that’s unlocked by the folding rear seats is largely blocked by the bodyshell. There is enough room in the rear seats for smaller adults, but smaller is definitely the word. You might squeeze larger adults back there for trips to the shops, but any longer and they’ll be complaining about lack of headroom and having their knees pressed against the solid plastics on the seat backs.

Hyundai’s Genesis coupe is a great car. It’s attractive, well-built, relatively practical and its balanced rear-drive chassis and eager V6 make it great fun to drive.

If it does come to the UK, expect a price tag of around £25k. And while that would undercut key rivals like the 350Z and G37, we wonder if Hyundai might need to be more aggressive to get to the potential customers who’ll struggle with the badge.

What are the chances of it coming to the UK? Tough market conditions mean it’s shifted from a dead cert to 50/50 at best, according to the UK press office. As a brand builder alone, we reckon it’s worth Hyundai taking the chance.

Considering how horrid you Brits are towards Hyundai cars, you dont deserve to have this car.  Either Hyundai provides junk cars for you guys in Europe, or the other Makes provide superb cars?  Here in America, Hyundai has become an Aspirational Luxury make and is always in the top 5 Automakes in build quality.

All I know, is that Mercedes is the only Euro make in our top 10 quality lists VW is in the Middle of the Pack, and VW has improved its Chinese Build quality as of late.  The cars like the Astra, the Tida, The Mini (especially the Mini) etc... that get sent over to America are absolute rubbish.  Very functional cars, yet they break down all of the time in our American driving conditions.   Europeans from the comments all over the web Ive seen consider Mazda Reliable, and here they are considered as Japanese Alfa Romeos. =Built for Looks and speed, but are absolute rubbish with rubbish Ford parts.  Ford provides good cars for you guys, while here they decontent everything to keeps costs down, and builds their cars in Mexico for slave wages.  By the way Guys, Mexican manufacturing and small cars from any make doesnt mix, trust me.  The US Focus has worse build qualitiy than a 1975 Hyundai Pony, or a Yugo, with the same powertrains as what you guys get in Europe.  The Mexican made Fiestas for US sale will be just as horrid, i will bet good money on that.

You Europeans rave over those cars, and if you rave over such rubbish I dont trust your opinions.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe, particularly the 3.8 V6 is a milestone vehicle. For too long have a horde of likeminded individuals lamented the demise of the affordable sports car. In a similar way that the Toyota Supra transformed how we think about Toyota we will be forced to reorient are perceptions of Hyundai. The aptly named Genesis, if as good as you say, will have a similar effect by tapping into the market firmly establishing itself as the vehicle of choice of driving enthusiast on a budget and as a new shining light within aftermarket tuning circles. Full kudos to Hyundai, they have produced a glorious and purposeful performance "hero". I will be placing my order as soon as the Genesis is confirmed for Australia; Manual; Graphite Grey with leather.

Very Korean and ugly from the front, the rest is just a mish-mash of everybody elses ideas, not very original! As for the inside,is that center console straight out the Pug 308??? European manufacturers can rest for another few years!

Why not a V8 Hyundai coupe? Hyundai is already successful in the US and that would easily take the fight to the admittedly more charismatic Mustang. As for the Germans quaking in their boots, in Europe at least they dont have anything to worry about but give the Koreans a decade or so and that may very well change.

AR- Not a patch on Italian elegance, and as for the Germans, no as well. A desirable car indeed, but not in the same market as the bigger German marques. A V8 Hyundai coupe? Good prospect, doubtful probability.
