Audi A6 facelift (2008): first pictures

I am really beginning to wonder if any of you have taken more than a glancing look, and even if only that, when anyone last had his eyes checked. The differences are subtle but evident between each of the models. Beyond that the simple fact of the matter is that Audi have successfully created a clear and recognisable brand identity, which works in all its variatons, something that can't be said of many contemporaries, both German and non german... Jaguar, a brand I used to love has only just started einventing itself, and we can only hope, that the new XJ ill be as well proportioned as the current one and the XF, Porsche has a clear identity, but fails to recognize when it is and when it isn't appropriate, VW changes its identity constantly, and looks more like a schizophrenic dog than a carbrand thse days (p market, downmarket, big grile, small grille, rounder, squarer, Merc is always searching and never really settles on an identity, and BMW, well, I'll leave them out of it for now. but hey, if you want tacky, schizo, unbalanced just stay clear from Audi, it might lack passion (it is German after all) but it has refined the rational approach to an art

Boring. It's about time Audi reinvented themselves.

I'm really not a fan of the looks. Take the Audi badges off and it could just about be anything, from Renault to Hyundai! There's something a bit dumpy and the front undertray area from headlights down looks just messy. Interesting Audi have gone the supercharger route with their 3.0ltr petrol instead of the twin turbo way of BMW. The Audis 286bhp and 310lb.ft compares to BMW's 301bhp and 295lb.ft. Audi est. 29mpg and BMW 32mpg. So nothing much in it but I'm betting the BMW's sweet, smooth 6 has bags more character than Audis unit to live with.
