Bentley Mulsanne (2010) scooped by a reader

Published: 05 February 2010 Updated: 26 January 2015

A reader from Leeds, who wished to remain anonymous, spotted this Bentley Mulsanne in a Morley, West Yorkshire, car park. It caught his eye because it was still lightly disguised – despite having been unveiled at numerous motor shows.

‘The car was all taped up around the badges, door and bonnet shuts,’ said our reader. Let’s call him Alan.

‘I know the Mulsanne’s not out until later in the spring, so I wonder why it was in this out-of-the-way car park in Morley?’

The new Bentley Mulsanne in brief

Replacing the Arnage at the top of the family tree, the new £220,000 Mulsanne is the first full-sized Bentley since 1930’s 8-litre to be developed fully in Crewe. The Arnage was to all intents and purposes a rebadged Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph, don’t forget.

The Mulsanne is powered by the enduring 50-year-old Bentley V8: its 6761ccs power a gentleman’s express, mustering 505bhp and 752lb ft of twist. Yet this Bentley is dripping with the latest VW Group know-how, and the Mulsanne sports the latest eight-speed auto ‘box.

Only available in one size, the Mulsanne is supremely luxurious inside. It’s 5575mm long, 1926mm wide and 1526mm high – which roughly translates into one very roomy and comfy car.

When can I buy the Mulsanne?

Production starts in spring 2010, with the first customer deliveries in time for summer.
