Does It Work? video: radar cruise control

Tim,  all the "does it work" videos were a lovely diversion.......but I could not blow up the screen to better see what was happening, and the sound was bad to the point I missed half of your [probably very interesting] dialogue :-(((

We have been able to buy voice-activated mobile phones now for yonks, which work!  Its curious the likes of car makers, with enormous resources, cannot get it together.  Who does their research???  It was a terrible indictment on Lexus, which saddened me, as their cars are technical tour de forces in other respects.

I had a go in a Volvo with radar cruise control and it was horrible, and that didn't brake for you.  They marketed it as a safety aid that was there to help the driver, but the reality is that customers wouldn't use it for that purpose - that was for product liability.  If you can't be bothered driving in traffic, then get the train or get someone else to drive.  Don't use a system like this to make you even less involved as it will only end up in a big accident.

CR157 - so this is traffic jam technology which makes (some) sense. Because I was thinking if you bought a Playstation 3, hooked it up with Grande Turismo 3 and started playing and let the computer simulation take over the accelerating and braking functions you may as well just friggin give up! But do like the Mercedes night sight screen, brings a whole new level to Dogging and checking your neighbours skinny dipping in the pool ;))
