Actually the source for those figures you trash are the United Nations, the IPCC's own to be specific who calculate nature produces over 50 times what man emits per year. Maybe you could elucidate on what figures you have that makes these figures rubbish? As I've said before I can cross-reference all my sources to experts or scientists. Regards your comment "..nobody can have an all-encompassing knowledge" and your colleagues comment "there can be all sorts of mitigating circumstances" the answer to both is 'no' simply because we're talking about simple thing, Carbon Dioxide, a trivial gas (a trace element) for climate warming but an essential gas for life on Earth. The global warming hoax is all pegged on CO2 emissions and it driving temperature. There's nothing complicated about this gas, its properties (CO2's ability to warm - absorbtion spectra - and dissolve in liquid according to temperature) have been known for over a century by scientists. It's a really simple gas, has simple properties and known effects in our atmosphere. It is not rocket science to understand what CO2 can and acnnot do. The climate may not be (fully) understood and weather forecasting may still be beyond the UK Met Office but how CO2 reacts in the climate is 'done to death'. Namely CO2 passed 22ppm (parts per million) in the atmosphere has almost no additional warming effect. So current 380ppm or predicted 600ppm has almost no additional warming effect than 22ppm (see very last page and last post in "Tax My Fizzy.."). In the words of Dr Jeffrey Glassman "The absorption spectra of greenhouse gases have been well-known for most of a century. The IPCC just skipped over the phenomenon in its Reports to conclude that, by itself, CO2 can't have a frightening enough effect on climate. The IPCC model instead rationalizes that the additional warming caused by the CO2, feeble as it is, is enhanced ...by the release of additional water vapor, the greatest greenhouse gas." In short, like alot of IPCC 'science', the IPCC are skipping basic good science when it doesn't suit the political agenda. This is how the IPCC 'manufacture' a tipping point that man is creating an imbalance in climate despite both mans neglible size on such a colossal system and despite CO2's trivial volume in such a huge atmospheric system. And as per deforestation or food supply the enviros have really bad maths. The IPCC factor in the water vapour warming but fail to factor in water vapour, as clouds, producing a negative cooling effect, what's called cloud albedo (white cloud reflects solar radiation back into space) cooling the Earth. Cloud albedo is as great as the warming effect of extra water and not factored into any IPCC's global climate models so the models create runaway warming (which is un-natural and unrealistic). The IPCC recognises its failing to account for cloud albedo but fails to rectify this gaping hole, amoung others, in its predictions which is really poor science (ie. forwarding a broken theory) as a way to advise politicians or inform public debate. The only warming of planet Earth are faulty (flawed) IPCC computer models. Our weather is normal and going nowhere - take a look outside...

Ray_A - rather than debate with me why not walk outside your door and take a close look at the weather, another crappy English summer, and walk down your street saying "The End of the World is Nigh" like every other loony. Invite the deluded Gordon Brown, the "safe pair of hands" on a bankrupt government, and the cronies he's appointed at DEFRA, Dept of Enviroment and the Met Office and with Al Gore shout "the Earth has a fever" despite our temperature being no different to 1940 pre-industrialisation. Then give the majority of the worlds scientists and governments a break from your vacuous junk science and take a long walk off a short pier. It's not the weather or the science that's changed, it's just the politics
