Automobili Pininfarina is claiming a world first with this: the B95. The roofless, electric-powered supercar is claimed to be the ‘world’s first pure-electric open-top hyper barchetta’ – a rather niche claim, even by normal record standards.

Even so, the B95 is a dramatic new model from a company almost becoming famous for dramatic cars. The Battista electric hypercar set itself as one of the most powerful cars ever made, and the Pura Vision concept has shown what’s next for the car making arm of one of the most illustrious automotive design houses in the world. The ‘B’ stands for Barchetta, and the ‘95’ is a nod to Pininfarina being 95 years old in 2025 – when the first deliveries of this super-powered EV commence.

The B95’s design is based heavily off the Pura Vision concept car revealed earlier in 2023. Single-line DRLs and shallow headlights slice horizontally across the full width of the front end, while muscular wheelarches and a wide stance feature. And, while there’s no windscreen, the brand’s team developed clear aero screens that can be adjusted to direct as much air flow around the driver as possible.

‘The launch of the PURA Vision design concept then unlocked a new design philosophy for all future models from our brand, across a spectrum of different segments,’ says Paolo Dellachà, Automobili Pininfarina’s CEO. ‘Our new Barchetta shows how these design principles can be applied – with a retro-futuristic vision fusing classic motorsport themes with the latest technological innovations.’

Beneath the svelte bodywork is powertrain from the Battista hypercar. A 120kWh T-shaped and liquid-cooled battery pack and four e-motors generate 1874bhp, meaning the B95 is capable of a sub-two-second 0-62mph time and a top speed of more than 217mph. Imagine doing that without a helmet.

But, you may be pleased to know, Automobili Pininfarina does say clients can order bespoke lids to match their spec of B95.

However, it’ll be a very small client list – just 10 B95s are to be made. With each having a starting price of €4.4m (around £3.7m).
