► New Black Edition Sciroccos
► Now on UK sale, from £23,135
► Packed with kit. Some of it black

Here’s a turn-up for the books: a new Black Edition VW Scirocco that is, in fact, white! It’s one of a pair of new special edition models going on sale now priced from £23,135 with first deliveries in January 2016.

VW Scirocco Black Editions: what you get

Choose from the GT Black Edition and the R-Line Black Edition, designed to spice up interest in the ageing Scirocco range. As the name suggests, there is plenty of black available on this duo from the wheels (18in on the GT, 19s on the R-Line) to heavily tinted rear windows and contrasting black roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler. The full specs look something like this:

  • Scirocco GT Black Edition 18in Black Lisbon alloys, sat-nav, two-zone climate control, front foglamps, parking sensors, alloy-look peals, part-alcantara upholstery
  • Scirocco R-Line Black Edition 19in Black Lugano alloys, R-Line-specific bumpers and side skirts, scuff plates, steering wheel, handbrake and gearlever, carbon-look dash inserts, heated, electric leather sports seats

Prices, engines

Pay from £23,135 for the GT version with the least powerful 123bhp 1.4 TSI Bluemotion engine. That’s a £550 premium over the regular models upon which they’re based. The new trim line is available with the more powerful 178bhp 2.0 petrol or a brace of 2.0 diesels mustering 148bhp or 181bhp.

Other colour Sciroccos are available. Just remember that, although VW calls this the third-generation Scirocco, it is in essence a lightly refreshed version of the 2008 Mk2.
