► Due to be unveiled in full on 1 September

Skoda’s released a series of official preview pictures of its upcoming Kodiaq SUV, ahead of its official reveal.

The new Qashqai-rivalling SUV will be unveiled in full in Berlin, on 1 September, ahead of its public debut at the 2016 Paris motor show.

Tell me more about the new Kodiaq…

It’s a large SUV, based on the VW Group’s MQB platform, which will be available with seven seats. You’ll see a host of familiar Skoda hallmarks on the exterior, and inside you’ll find masses of room and a reputedly spacious boot.

There’ll be a host of useful tech onboard, too; Skoda will be offering a surround-view camera, wide-angle front and rear cameras and a towing assistance package.

Buyers will also be able to opt for a one-touch emergency assistance system, much like Vauxhall’s OnStar package.

I feel like I’ve seen this before.

You’re not mistaken. Our spy photographers have spotted the Kodiaq undergoing tests on public roads, while Skoda’s previous Kodiaq concept is thought to closely resemble the finished article. Judging by the disguised prototypes we’ve seen, that looks to be the case.

When will the Skoda Kodiaq go on sale?

Our sources suggest that you’ll be able to place an order for a Kodiaq in late 2016, following its public debut at the Paris motor show, and that deliveries will start in early 2017.
