Ashes to Ashes Audi Quattro up for grabs

Fire up the laptop! To raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal, the Audi Quattro from the TV series Ashes to Ashes is being auctioned by the Beeb on eBay.

Looks shiny…

Currently owned by the BBC, the 1983 Quattro has returned from a restoration and respray at the hands of Audi UK ahead of the auction, along with a fresh MOT. Nonetheless, the BBC’s description on the ad says ‘she’s a former TV action vehicle and still has a number of battle scars from the exciting life she has led.’

Actor Philip Glenister, who played the hard-living, Quattro-driving detective Gene Hunt in the series, has signed the newly spotless underside of the bonnet with his character’s ‘fire up the Quattro’ catchphrase.

How much is the Ashes to Ashes Quattro likely to go for?

Who knows? Careworn similar-era Quattros can be found from £10,000 upwards, with well-looked after examples heading north of £20,000. The extra impetus of a good cause and the showbiz fairy dust sprinkled over this 2144cc two-valve-per-cylinder example could push first-generation Quattro values to new heights.

The auction ends on Sunday 16 November at 9pm. Bidding has already opened at the BBC’s eBay page here.
