Parkers – the definitive resource for car-buying advice in the UK – has partnered with CAR to bring you the awards for the Best Large Electric Car and Best Fun Car in the prestigious Parkers New Car Awards 2023.

The winners are the Kia EV6 and Alpine A110 and they are just two of a total of 24 award winners revealed today. The biggest winner is the Honda Civic, which drove off with the overall Car of the Year gong.

The Kia EV6 won against some serious opposition, but it’s a winner because it’s brilliant out of the box, showing that the Korean firm has taken leadership in the EV market. Starting with the interior, which is spacious, and packed with all the simple-to-use features modern life demands. It also feels genuinely interesting and innovative and on the road it puts in a great performance, handles well, and has an excellent range.

Parkers editor Keith Adams said: ‘What makes the EV6 so good? Everything. That bold bodywork hides a practical interior and a large boot and even the most basic, low-spec model feels futuristic and special inside. Whether you go for the cheaper rear-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive, twin-motor variants, it’s quick, comfortable and handles brilliantly.’

For Best Fun Car, the Alpine A110 (below) was a clear-cut winner. If there’s one thing we have to say about the Alpine, it’s that lightness is still the key to a brilliant performance. Few fast cars deliver such delicacy of response and all-round dynamic brilliance, and the fact it’s relatively affordable makes it even better.

Alpine A110 a worthy winner of Best Fun Car

Adams explained: ‘It doesn’t matter if you’re popping to the shops to buy a pint of milk or tackling a mountain pass, you’re guaranteed a great time in the Alpine A110. It’s far lighter than most sports cars out there so it wrings surprising performance out of its little 1.8-litre engine. The best bit? You don’t have to push it hard to feel like you’re fully immersed in the driving experience.’

The winning cars have been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best large electric cars on a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose.

Keith Adams added: ‘In this year’s New Car Awards, we’ve arrived at a great selection of winners. We’ve taken what we know about what our users are viewing on Parkers, with the team’s combined 100+ years of editorial expertise. We’re more than happy with our winners – they’re all part of a brilliant line-up of cars.’
