For the Bentley customer too lazy to refuel: fill-up via app

Hands up who enjoys refuelling at petrol stations? Thought not. Well, Bentley might have just the thing for you – a new concierge service which banishes forecourts for the uber-rich.

It’s a new beta concierge service being trialled in California.

Crewe is partnering with start-up company Filld, whose app lets customers fill up remotely.

What over-the-air refuelling? That is clever…

Steady on. This new service mixes old tech and new. Think of it as an on-demand fuel-delivery service, similar to personal shopping offered by high-end concierge services.

When your car is getting low on juice, it communicates with Filld which dispatches an attendant to wherever the car is to fill up for you.

No need to relay the car’s position or be there to unlock it; the app manages all the logistics for you.

The petrol pump comes to you!

Cofounder and CTO of Filld, Christopher Aubuchon, said: ‘Filld and Bentley share a vision for leveraging powerful connected car technology – to one day eliminate the need for customers to refuel their cars themselves, removing inconvenience, and giving them more of their valuable time back.’

Great! So no more soggy sandwiches and grubby diesel-splashed shoes!

Quite. Remember this is a US-only trial, for now. But there’s no reason the service couldn’t be extended to Europe in due course. Bentley officials don’t yet have word on the pricing, though you can bet your high dollar that it’ll cost more than filling up at Morrisons…
