► Metro 6R4 from 1986
► Seven miles on the clock
► Still coated in factory wax
Another week, another legend hitting the auction block. This time it’s a Group B Metro 6R4, served up by Silverstone Auctions. And now for the amazing bit; it’s only got seven miles on the clock. You can read our original review of the 6R4 here.
Silverstone Auctions says the car, #189 of 200, was bought by an enthusiast not a competitor, in December 1986. The 6-cylinder Group B beast was then transported to his home in Oxfordshire, and clearly not used very much.
Since then it’s had a stint in the Donington Museum and then sat with with its new owner for seventeen years.
So what do you get?
A Group B Metro GR4, never rallied, complete with all the wings, unpainted bolt-on panels and the assembly manual. It’s still coated in the factory wax, too.
As for the price, it’s hard to say. While we’re not keen on cars storing cars rather than driving them, but the existence of a boxfresh Group B legend is pretty extraordinary. Silverstone Auctions expects it’ll go for an extraordinary price tag to match.
