Bugatti has communicated the very first step of its ‘next chapter’, confirming that its new-generation model will arrive with an electrified powertrain.

And not just any electrified powertrain, either – a V16 hybrid. Bugatti says the new engine is ‘a pure embodiment’ of its DNA that’s ‘created not just for the present or even the future, but pour l’eternité.’

The small announcement comes with an image of the engine header, which includes copious amounts of carbonfibre in its construction. There’s also a video, where you can hear the engine scream right up to its likely redline.

Bugatti’s modern-day history has entirely circulated around a V16 engine, with the Veyron and Chiron – the brand’s backbone over the last two years – being powered by such large capacity engines.

After the announcement of a Bugatti, Rimac and Porsche joint venture in 2021, there was considerable speculation surrounding whether the next Bugatti model would make the leap to battery-electric immediately. It appears that isn’t true.

CAR understands that Bugatti’s ‘next chapter’, a new V16 hybrid hypercar, will make its official reveal later in 2024.
