CAR reader Andy Hodgekins spied this production-ready Jag XF-R in a Ford dealership in Coventry over the Christmas break. Being a quick-witted CAR sort, he rattled off a brace of spy photos to share this bright red BMW M5/Merc E63 rival with the CAR community.
‘There’s still a bit of tape on the front, but otherwise it was undisguised,’ he tells us. ‘The wheels are impressive, however the centre caps don’t look to be the finished article.
‘The interior looked good too, with a pair of very comfortable-looking black leather sports seats.’
It’s not long until we see the Jag XF-R for real; it’s due to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show this weekend on 11 January 2009. It’ll get a 500bhp version of the new 5.0-litre V8, plus a slippy diff and a host of go-faster details to take the fight to the M5/RS6/E63.
