► Place your bets! It’s drag race time
► We race new BMW M4 vs 911 C2
► An empty runway, two competitive hacks…
When we filmed our new BMW M4 Coupe video review, we hired an empty track for the occasion. Which meant that two CAR magazine writers were left to their own devices for a few hours: two state-of-the-art sports cars, a long stretch of deserted runway and a curious desire to find out which was fastest…
We’d handily brought along the latest – and cheapest – Porsche 911, the boggo Carrera 2 for comparison and our impromptu drag race settled once and for all which was quickest. Key stats are thus:
BMW M4 Coupe |
Porsche 911 Carrera 2 |
503bhp |
380bhp |
1725kg |
1505kg |
3.9sec 0-62mph |
4.2sec 0-62mph |
180mph |
182mph |
That’s what the raw, official data claims – but that counts for nought in the heat of battle on a Welsh circuit. Watch the drag race in our video above – and be sure to comment below. Sound off and let us know which sports coupe gets your vote!
