► Cupra refreshes the Leon
► New headlights, new rear design
► Follows the new Tavascan design
Cupra is positioning itself as a premium electric vehicle brand, but that doesn’t mean it’s giving up on internal combustion engines in the near future. With that in mind, you’re looking at a refreshed prototype of the Cupra Leon hatch, due to be revealed within the next six months.
What’s new?
Our spy photographers have snapped the new car from every angle, but only two areas of the car wear any significant camouflage: the front and the rear.
At the front, the new car gets Cupra’s new triple triangle headlight signature, as it looks to keep up with the new design direction found on the upcoming, electric Tavascan SUV. The front bumper has been redesigned too, and this Cupra wears its grille with pride – a contrast to the grille-less, slippery Born for example.
At the rear, expect the changes to be much smaller. CAR understands there’ll only be a change to the rear light signatures and small tweaks to the bumper design.
Have we seen this?
At an event last year, Cupra revealed several forthcoming models – including the new Leon – and these spy shots match up with what we saw then. Mostly the same, the new car will feature the same light signature as the rest Tavascan, and eventually the Born.
