Honda crossover in Europe: the spy photos

Published: 22 October 2008 Updated: 26 January 2015

Will Honda bring this crossover to Europe? Our spies have snared Acura’s new 4×4 on test in Germany as they develop the new BMW X6 rival ahead of launch.

However, it seems certain that Honda won’t sell this big 4×4 in the UK or western Europe. A spokesman confirmed it was not in the plan – and why would they, in an age when buyers are deserting big cars in droves?

So why is the new Honda crossover testing in Europe?

Good question. We caught the new crossover on test near the Nurburgring in Germany, but it seems that Honda could be readying the 4×4 for sale in eastern Europe – and especially Russia.

Markets like Russia and the Middle East still have a healthy appetite for full-size crossovers – and this new model appears to be closer in size to the (X6-sized) Acura MDX rather than the (CR-V sized) RDX.

There are still no plans to introduce the Acrua brand to the UK. Unlike Toyota and Nissan, Honda feels its volume brand is strong enough not to need a luxury stablemate
