The A5 is in effect the A4 coupé – and it wears the slinkiest suit of any Audi bearing the A badge. Choose between the coupé, convertible and Sportback (talk about cramming niches!). For more information on the Audi A5, click on our further stories on the links below.
60sec road test
The A4's sleeker, sexier coupe brother is still a looker all these years after launch. It's the first time the company has launched a rival to the BMW 4-series (né 3-series Coupe) and it hit the bullseye right out of the blocks, on stylistic terms at least. No wonder VW group design overlord Walter da Silva called it the most beautiful car he had ever worked on. It's aged well in looks, but the drive is starting to fall behind the class best. It's essentially an A4 inside and underneath, so there are no great shocks in store. There's a wide range of petrol and diesel engines available in combination with all sorts of transmissions. All are a little numb to drive, but have solid, Audi-typical cabins. Which is to say, they're near the top of the class for interior vibe. But remember the new A4 lands in 2015, and its sportier two-door sibling won't be far behind.
