Aston Martin knows when it’s onto a good thing – and low-volume, high-end collector editions are certainly one of those good things.

Consequently, it’s seen fit to roll out a Volante version of its recently revealed Vanquish Zagato, in order to meet ‘overwhelming customer interest.’

Only 99 of the 592bhp V12-engined Volantes will be built, however, helping it retain its appeal among collectors.

It’s based on the recent Vanquish Zagato, but features a tailored hood and roof mechanism from a Vanquish Volante. Otherwise, it’s effectively the same car. Find out more about that here, and read about its transition from concept to production here.

Aston’s executive vice president and chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, said: ‘Just like the Coupe, we have emphasised the way surfaces change and intersect to create a muscular form.

‘We’ve endeavoured to create an elegant, flowing shape that really works to emphasise the car’s sculpted rear haunches.’

Can I order one?

Unlikely – we suspect all 99 have already long been accounted for. If you’re one of the lucky few, however, deliveries will begin in 2017.

What else has made an appearance at Pebble Beach this year?

BMW rolled out a revamped version of its 2002 Hommage concept, which is based on the M2, while Mercedes-Benz unveiled the grandiose Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6.
