Porsche Vision GT: what you need to know

You’re going to see more Porsches in GT Sport in 2020. After years of absence, the Stuttgart manufacturer is now doubling-down on Gran Turismo, and that means gamers will be able to get behind the wheel of some exotic machinery.

In an announcement last year, Porsche revealed it’ll be bringing at least three new cars to GT Sport in the next few months: the electric Taycan, a 917 concept and also a new Vision GT concept.

For those that less involved in the world of Gran Turismo, a Vision GT car is an extreme concept that exists only in the game – but it’s a great look at the undistilled thoughts of some of your favourite car designers. Think of it like a Porsche design turned up to 11, and you’re pretty much there.

We’ve seen – and driven – the Taycan, reported on the 917 concept, and it’s possible we already know what the Porsche Vision GT will look like, too. Back in September 2019, Porsche released a video showing a new 908 longtail concept, and although originally just a fan-made thing, it gained official support from Stuttgart. In fact, the brand even released a video about the car on its YouTube channel. You can watch it at the bottom of the page, and visit the car’s website here.

Originally just an out-of-office project for a few designers at the China-based Chery brand, it’s a mixture of classic 908 LH and 918, and we think it looks amazing. It’s called the 908 – 04 concept for now.

While it’s by no means confirmed for GT Sport, and it’s very possible the German manufacturer will give us something more electric and Taycan-ish, we’re hoping it’ll make it to the PS4’s flagship racer. Either way, it looks amazing.
