Seat A4, sorry, Exeo: first official photos

Seat sprung a surprise on the eve of the Paris motor show by bringing along its Audi-in-fancy-dress Exeo. It’s the Spanish firm’s short-cut family car, a renosed last-gen A4 that will serve up a Seat challenger to the Mondeo, Insignia, Laguna et al.

The Exeo arrives in UK showrooms in the first half of 2009. Come back to CAR Online in the next 24 hours when we’ll have the full story on the new Exeo. But in the meantime, marvel at just how much Audi is left in this new ‘Seat’. Even the interior is left virtually untouched.

Which makes us think the Exeo is the perfect illustration of the component sharing that besets the industry, and the VW Group in particular. What’s not to like about buying an Audi in drag for thousands less than the real thing? Even if it is last year’s model?

Is the Exeo going to work for Seat? Or is it a short-cut too far? Click ‘Add your comment’ and have your say. And come back to CAR Online in the next 24 hours for CAR’s full guide to the Paris motor show 2008
