Meet the £120k Skoda Superb Estate

► Armoured Skoda Superb
► Modified to be bulletproof
► A pinch at £118,688

Skoda has created the ultimate Superb Estate although, at first glance, you wouldn’t really notice. The UK arm of the Czech brand has worked with a British-based engineering team over three years to create a fully ballistic and bulletproof Superb Estate.

The Superb Estate’s passenger cell is PAS 300-certified, which means it was subject to a ream of tests involving firing different types of weapons at it and ‘exposing it to blast and fragmentation threats.’ Although Skoda won’t give us all the details for secrecy’s sake, it does say that the the armoured Superb uses ‘bullet-resistant glass, high-strength steel and composite materials’ in its construction.

Along with the armour modifications, the 187bhp diesel-spec Superb has been subject to a suspension and brake overhaul to cope with the additional weight, and includes tyres that can still allow the car to drive normally despite being completely deflated. Emergency lights and a siren are fitted, too.

Skoda says the modifications have not intruded on the regular car’s appeal; it ‘retains its spacious five-seater layout cabin, large boot and acclaimed build quality.’

We’re sure Czech diplomats and ambassadors would be interested in stumping up the £118,688 price tag.
