► D4 engine first, Twin Engines later
► Coming to the UK 2019

Volvo has confirmed a new Cross Country model for its V60 estate, in case you’re the type that likes to shun SUVs.

The new V60 Cross Country model, just like the V90 Cross Country, has loads of bonus body cladding and a taller ride height (up to 75mm higher in fact) due to the Cross Country’s ‘specially-developed’ chassis and suspension tuning.

A D4 diesel is your only engine option in the UK (that’s a 2.0-litre turbodiesel with 187bhp and 258 lb ft in Volvo speak) with all-wheel drive, hill descent control and an off-road driving mode. The wider European market will also have the option of a T5 petrol (247bhp, 295lb ft). Volvo says mild hybrids and Twin Engine plug-in powertrain options will become available later.

Henrik Green, Volvo’s senior VP for R&D, says ‘the added versatility makes it at home in town and country thanks to a higher seating position, increased ground clearance and dynamic all-wheel drive.’

The usual Volvo kit list like more safety kit than you can shake a stick at, Sensus portrait infotainment system, handsome looks and a premium-looking interior are all a given.

As for the UK specifically, Volvo says we’ll find out how much it costs later in October 2018, and it will arrive on our shores in late spring 2019.
