Ferrari 599 retraces the Mille Miglia

Published: 10 April 2009 Updated: 01 February 2015

As part of CAR Online’s Ferrari special, we’re publishing some of our best archive Ferrari content. Here CAR’s contributing editor Ben Oliver takes a Ferrari 599 to a place with plenty of spiritual significance – the sweeping roads of the Mille Miglia in Italy.

Oliver takes in many of the great stops on the historic run, from Brescia to some amazing Alpine passes that really test the 6.0-litre V12’s athletic prowess. It’s a fitting work-out for Ferrari’s GT: the road race ran from 1927 to 1957, until it was banned for being too dangerous. The perfect proving ground for the Ferrari 599, then.
