What: The 2008 F1 Santander British Grand Prix. Think we’ll stick with the good, old British Grand Prix name, thank you. Life’s too short…

When: Friday 4 – Sunday 6 July 2008.

Where: Silverstone, Northamptonshire NN12 8TN.

Sample prices: Friday practice from £49, Saturday practice from £69. But Sunday race day has already sold out. Sounds like you’d better apply for CAR’s pair or VIP tickets then.

Ticket hotline: 08704 588 300 (callers from overseas, ring + 44 8704 588 300).

Stato: Silverstone first hosted the British Grand Prix in 1948. As with many UK motor racing circuits, it’s on the site of an old Royal Air Force base, RAF Silverstone; its three runways lie within the outline of the current track.

Anorak’s note: the car chase in the thirty-eighth minute of Bond flick Thunderball was filmed at Silverstone.
