Subaru Exiga

Stop press! Easy-on-the-eye new Subaru shocker!

It’s good looking and, although currently a concept, it’s likely to become a showroom reality. This is the Subaru Exiga – think of it as an XL size Legacy. It’s not an MPV, it’s a roomy estate car with a space-age cabin.

But the Legacy estate exists. Why wheel this out?

Crucially it’s a seven-seater. It’s a seven-seater with emphasis on 360-degree panoramic views from within and more than a whiff of luxury – something Subaru usually avoids. For example, the seats gradually rise towards the rear theatre-style, and the roof is all glass.

The interior is a bit jingle-jangle.

Pearlescent white leather and chrome-plated trim pieces sound a bit pimp but it works to create an airy feel. And there are plenty of in-car gadgets inclduing eight TV monitors. Under the bonnet there’s a 2-litre turbocharged petrol lump with Subaru symmetrical AWD controlled by a 5-speed auto.
