► Official Blancpain GT licence
► Weather effects for realistic racing
► Coming to PC in summer 2018
There’s a new racing game in town, and there’s a chance it could be a cracker. Today Kunos Simulazioni revealed Assetto Corsa Competizione, and it promises to be one of the best racing games on PC – and, hopefully, console soon after.
As you can tell from the name, the new game comes from the makers of Assetto Corsa, but rather than a sequel it will exist in parallel to the current title. Instead of the 360-degree look at the car world the original game brings, Competizione will instead be the official game of the Blancpain GT series.

That means you’ll get all the official drivers, team names and circuits from one of the world’s most famous endurance series, and you’ll also have access to Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens – and pretty much anything else in the championship, too.
What about the graphics?
Along with more detailed motion capture, and new weather effects – never before seen in a Kunos Simulazioni racing simulator – Competizione will also feature a strong emphasis on eSports. According to the announcement today, a matchmaking function will ensure players of a similar skill level are paired up, and fair play will also be promoted.
There’ll be several race modes to choose from too, from 24-hour endurance races with changing weather, to one-hour sprints and practice sessions. And thanks to the Unreal 4 engine the game will be running on, it should look even better compared to the standard game.
What about PS4 and Xbox One?
The game is going to hit the PC's Steam service early access in summer 2018, but it’s likely it’ll end up on game consoles perhaps in 2019 – or hopefully sooner.
