60sec road test
Think of this as an alternative to the X-Trail gang: you can spec five or seven seats, depending on your family requirements. If you have four kids or do regular school runs, the third row will prove invaluable. But even without, this is a practical workhorse with a huge boot. At the heart of the Santa Fe's appeal is the sheer ability of the thing. It's enough to make you question the nuance between premium and mainstream. This car is so capable, so rounded that you're left wondering why anybody pays the premium to step up to something like a BMW X3. Ultimately, they do because they want that last degree of polish, that extra squidge of dashboard plastic and - of course - that badge. But we're big fans of the big Hyundai. It's a very smart purchase indeed.
