► Hardcore super saloon incoming
► The most powerful M5 ever
► First details teased via Instagram

BMW has confirmed that a new, hardcore M5 CS model is on its way via Instagram. BMW M boss, Markus Flasch, told the M brand’s followers on the social platform’s Stories format a few key details about the new car that’s expected to debut early in 2021. The new CS is expected to be the last version of this generation of M5, as the next generation is set have both a ‘Power PHEV’ and an all-electric version.

While discussing the new model, Flasch also allowed a few glimpses at the new super saloon that’ll be even more powerful than the M5 Competition. Bespoke bronze elements in the kidney grilles and wheels will be standard, and Flasch points out that yellow DRLs will be available. Carbon ceramic brakes are shown, too.

Power-wise, the new M5 CS will still have a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8, this time making 626bhp (a small increase from the M5 Competition’s 616bhp) and 553lb ft. But the modest increase in power is flanked by a 70kg diet, including a new carbonfibre bonnet and carbon bucket seats inside. BMW also says the new model will be shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

The official teaser comes after our spy photographers caught an almost completely undisguised version of the car unloading at a BMW facility as early as October 2019.

Given an M5 Competition in the UK is priced at £102,325, expect the M5 CS’s price tag to clock in at around £110,000.
