Saab 9-5 (2010) spotted lapping the M25

Published: 04 December 2009 Updated: 26 January 2015

We’re glad to report at the end of a torrid week for Saab that reader David Watkins spied the new 9-5 in the UK.

Saab might be clawing for survival, but the engineers are still beavering away preparing the 9-5 for launch next spring. We’re not quite sure why this 9-5 is still disguised when the car has been seen in the metal; it must be an earlier test hack that still bears its chequerboard distraction apparel.

‘Saw this 9-5 at Clacket Lane Services, anti-clockwise on the M25,’ David told us.

We’re just glad to see that life is proceeding with some degree of normality within Saab. We can only imagine the heartache felt by all those at Saab, as GM struggles to find a buyer.

The sell-off has assumed more urgency since the deal with Koenigsegg hit the rocks last week; Saab was this week granted a further month to find a buyer – or face closure.

And that doomsday scenario would be a great shame. As David’s scoop proves, the new 9-5 is a very promising new start for Trollhattan.
