This model is a rare slip-up from Ford, we’re afraid to declare: the Ecosport is simply not class competitive in many key areas. The interior quality is ‘verging on dire’, our road testers found and its old-fashioned side-hinged tailgate makes use very tricky in many day-to-day situations. It’s also some way off the pace to drive, although the European chassis wizards have wrought some good news from the ride and handling.
